“We the People Demand Control of our Communities.”

The message of the mural Against Domestic Colonialism in the Mathews Palmer Playground, Hells Kitchen, NYC

Some of the world’s most treasured murals are falling into disrepair, along with the voices of the communities they once thrived in. In NYC’s Hells Kitchen neighborhood we see the historic mural, Against Domestic Colonialism, painted in 1972 by the late artist Arnold Belkin with the assistance of the neighborhood residents, disappearing day by day to decay and neglect as the years stream by. Our neighborhood has joined together to save and recreate this beloved mural. We ask for your support in joining us to spread the word and help us to raise the necessary funds.
